The ideas behind the idea

Since the internet has started, there have been many dot com moguls sprouting up everywhere ranging from community sites to even miscellaneous ramblings of a blogger. But today’s reality is there are very few original ideas out there. You think you have a great idea? I bet someone is already ahead of the game you’re playing. Even thinking of a great dot com domain name doesn’t come easy these, you have to be very creative in what you choose and build your branding from there on.
Even before me and my partner created ratemyideas.com, we had many ideas going through our heads, brainstorming and analyzing to see what would be the most effective product people would be interested in. We thought of creating an adult site, but there were tonnes of them out there (not to mention you need a huge server space). We brainstormed on making a wishing site for people to donate to the less fortunate, but was never released. We even ventured in creating a torrent site which was open for a short period of time before we realized the law was going to catch up to us on day. BTW, this program is for sale to anybody that is interested.
After thinking about countless ideas to open, we realized why not create a site for ideas. Ratemyideas.com was founded in August 2008, we choose this name because it was the only one available and it totally relates to the content on our site. This site allows people to post up their ideas for free and see what other people think of it.
